We are open during Summer for Rental / Retail of Essential Alpine Gear. We are the only dedicated hire shop in the Tongariro – Ruapehu Area for Alpine Hiking Gear Hire for all the Tongariro National Park walks.
If you’re in the Central Plateau over summer doing some of our great walks like “The Tongariro Alpine Crossing”, “The Tongariro Northern Circuit”, “Round the Mountain Track”, or even our local township walk to “Tupapakurua Falls” we can hire you the hiking gear to make your trip to Tongariro a complete success.
Our Summer Open Hours for 2020/21 Summer
We are operating reduced days this summer, with the loss of International tourists:
Friday, Saturday & Sunday
Mornings: 6.30am to 10am
Afternoons: 3pm to 7pm
Monday to Thursday

4 Convenient Ways To Pick Up Rental Gear!
- Pick up gear on the morning of your hike. (Open: 6.30am to 10am – Fri,Sat,Sun)
- Pick the gear up in the afternoon the day before your hike. (Open: 3pm to 7pm – Fri, Sat, Sun)
- Have the gear left for you in our lock-box at the shop.
Note: You must forward a copy of your ID with the booking (Drivers Licence / Passport) - Have the gear delivered to your accomodation reception. Delivery cost is extra $10.00 (Participating Local Accomodations:

Returning Gear
All gear must be returned directly to our shop by 7pm on the last day of your rental, unless other arrangement has been made beforehand.
