Ski Biz Rental in National Park Village is just 15 minutes from Whakapapa Ski Area on Mt.Ruapehu and has all the snow gear for hire you will need for your trip to Mt Ruapehu. Wether your an experienced mountain goer, first time sightseer to the Skywaka Gondola, or a beginner heading to Happy Valley learners area our friendly team will have you set up with the appropriate gear and provide the right advise to get you up on Mount Ruapehu in no time.
Our hire skis and snowboard rental are tuned after every rental, so you will always get gear that performs like it should. We rent Skis, Snowboards, Jackets, Pants, Snow-boots, Helmets, Goggles and Sledges.

Our Flexi Rental Packages can be used anytime during the season. Choose from either a Flexi 5 Days or Flexi 10 Days.
What’s the difference to this and normal season rental? Well heaps cheaper for starters, you return the gear and let us use it when your not, and we’ll tune it up ready for you next time. Easily purchased on your first trip to the mountain during the season.

To qualify for group discounts – payment must be made at time of rental by one payment not individuals and rental quantities are counted by the number of either skis or snowboards hired.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our hire team will offer helpful advice that will ensure you have the snow gear need for your Ruapehu activity. We hire Skis, Snowboards, Boots, Jackets, Ski pants, Goggles, and Helmets. Also Thermal Snow Boots and Sledges if you’re just wanting to play in the snow. You will also need warm woollen socks, thermals, beanie (if nor renting helmet) and warm clothes, fleece etc. We have plenty of these items in-store to buy at competitive pricing for your convenience. We no-longer hire gloves (since Covid) but have bins of quality waterproof gloves to buy from $20 for Kiddies through to adults.
Our multi day packages (5 and 7 Days) are priced so low that you can choose which days to use the gear for the one very cost effective price. Our 5 day package is priced at around 2.5 days rental and the 7 day package at approx 3.5 days.
We have our own Ruapehu Regular Rentals Deals, where you can pre purchase rental either 5 Days Anytime Flexi or 10 days Anytime Flexi, and return the gear at the end of each trip to the mountain. This means “You” have tuned gear every time you come and we get to use the gear in between.
Generally, Booking is not necessary, but we have added a booking form for those customers that are coming on busy weekends, school holidays, or are concerned about particular sizes. It’s usually much more efficient to come into the shop to be fitted by our team on your first visit with us. This ensures you get correct fit – making you comfortable for your entire ski trip. We guarantee you’ll be happy with the gear you hire from us.
If you are worried about this use our new booking form so we can have gear set aside for you.
Yes you can collect rental after 3pm the day before you need it, and we don’t close till 7pm, so getting the gear the evening before means you not wasting valuable mountain time. Note: Check our Current Open Hours below.
It generally takes less than 10 minutes for one person plus a few minutes for each extra person in your group.
Yes, we will have your details recorded, please use our new booking system and we will have the gear set up waiting for you, or similar upgraded gear if the records are from a previous season.
No problem. Just keep skiing and when you return, we will put you on the best rental rate based on the time that you have had the gear.
We think we have a better product that is more cost efficient, especially our 5 day rate. With our rental gear you will always get tuned equipment. And if you’re needing to rent clothing, it is better to be wearing it before you get to the mountain. Plus we take the time to fit you expertly and make sure the first time is the only time you need to be fitted.
The edges on yours skis or board need to be sharpened regularly so they can hold an edge and to turn in hard snow. Wax on the base helps the ski or board to run freely. We tune our rentals after every use.
Yes! Both our shop and rental is open Friday Nights until midnight once the mountain is fully underway. You can come in and get set up with rentals or purchase gear and be equipped for a early start in the morning. Note: Check our Current Open Hours below to see if Midnight Fridays are available at present.
Yes we have a large range of this season’s demos in our rental, and if you decide to purchase from us we will take a day’s demo rental of the price. Phone us to discuss what demo you may wish to reserve.
Sorry, no we do not hire chains. However, we do have snow chains and Textile Socks for cars and vans in the shop to purchase. Phone us to check availability of your tire size.
Note: For your safety we recommend the use of shuttles, if you are unfamilar with icy / snowy road conditions.
All lift passes need to be purchased directly through Mt Ruapehu. Its best to pre-buy the passes online and then collet your passes from the various ticket machines around the mountain. Buy tickets here; http://mtruapehu.com/passes

Daily Rate
Price for 1-Day rental. Refundable less handling fee if gear returned before 10am on day of rental.
2 Day Rental
This is a 2-day package price for 2 consecutive days.
3 Days
This is a 3-day package price for 3 consecutive days and long weekends.
5 Days
Take the equipment for the next 5 days and you choose which days to use it for the one discounted price. Only refundable if mountain is closed 3 or more days in the rental period.
7 Days
Take the equipment for the next 7 days and you choose which days to use it for the one discounted price. Only refundable if mountain is closed 4 or more days in the rental period.
½ Day Rental (afternoons only)
Pricing is available for gear hired after 11.30am
Anytime Flexi Rental 5 Days / Anytime Flexi Rental 10 Days
