Our original E-bikes (and what the boss chooses to ride) the GT Panterra is fitted with a soft Gel seat and rear carrier for your bits; it’s a comfortable cruiser with wide tyres which are supper stable on our local trails.

Included: Helmet and Trail Maps

Sizes: Medium’s only

Rental Collection Times:

  • 9am: Full Day rental (9am to 6pm)
  • 12 Noon: Part Day rental (Return by 4pm)
  • 3pm: Part Day rental (Return by 6.30pm)

Our E-Bikes are only for use on rides starting and finishing at National Park Village and not for transporting to other trails.

We have three suggested rides, all easy riding with an e-bike, that start and finish in National Park Village:

Fishers Track

Fishers Track is a mostly downhill track with stunning views over Tongariro National Park and wide open views of the mountains, starting with a short climb through the Erua forest, you then can enjoy an over 600m descent through native bush into the Retaruke Valley. As you descend you get glimpses of Mt. Taranaki and views of rugged hill country, gorges and steep valleys showcasing the terrain between the central plateau and the west coast.

Our e-bike suggested version of this ride:

Instead of riding the 13km gravel road to Kaiteke where you would normally book a transport pick up, turn around at any stage after the descent, and using the E-Bike’s power modes and different levels of assistance to ride back up the hill to Waimarino Village enjoying the views of the Tongariro National Park again.

This ride is also a section of the Mountains to Sea – Great Rides of New Zealand – Fishers Track.

Marton Sash & Door Trail

Starting and finishing in Waimarino Village an enjoyable 18km loop trail. The first 2kms you travel south beside the North Island Main Trunk Railway Line, the trail then heads west and follows a recovered bush tramway route dating back to the early logging days. Scattered along the way are various relics of the logging era. You will bounce in and out of forestry plantation, and catch magnificent views of the volcanoes as the trail loops around and then returns again alongside the railway line.

This ride is a section of the Mountains to Sea – Great Rides of New Zealand – Martin Sash.

Great Tip: Both rides can be accomplished in 4 hours on our e-bikes but for something special between the two rides stop in at the Station Cafe for a coffee break or a delicious lunch.

Road Ride to Whakapapa Village

Enjoy a day exploring…

Ride from Waimarino Village to Whakapapa Village along SHW47 and SHW48, taking in the magnificent views of the 3 Volcanoes, lock your bike and explore the Tongariro Visitor Centre, maybe take in a short walk “Ridge Track” or “Taranaki Falls” grab a coffee or snack at Ma and Mels Coffee Cart. On the ride back it’s a short stroll to Tawhai Falls, or stop at Mangahuia Stream.
