Rentals – Assistant ( 2 Vacancies)

About the role

In this role you will assist in all day to day aspects of the rental department.

  • Greeting guests to the Rentals by providing outstanding customer service, and ensuring all customers are welcomed
  • Assisting with Front Cashiering, ensuring all equipment is loaded into the system, and charged correctly
  • Fitting boots, skis and snowboards safely and efficiently 
  • Recommend suitable rental skis / boards for guests based on their needs
  • Set binding DINS according to binding manufacturer’s requirements
  • Fitting and issuing of clothing, helmets, gloves and goggles
  • Ensuring customers’ needs are met and expectations exceeded
  • Ensuring all rental equipment has been returned, checked in correctly, not damaged, and customer paid accordingly
  • Maintain equipment on a daily basis – Edging and Waxing Skis and Boards
  • Basic Ski workshop duties and repairs
  • Ensuring gear is cleaned, dried, maintained, and stored in accordance and set up requirements
  • Maintaining a tidy work area that is clean and presentable at all possible times
  • Identifying concerns to maintain a safe and healthy working environment
  • This is an entry position, training will be provided and could lead to an industry qualification.

About You

  • Have a proven love of Snowsport and an interest in furthering a career in the snowsport industry
  • Be a team player
  • Highly customer focused with an ability to work with a diverse of customer nationalities, ages and expectations 
  • Ability to be helpful and offer customers advise on equipment use, ensuring their time on the mountain is an awesome experience
  • Being able to maintain a positive attitude in a demanding environment
  • Ability to multi-task in all areas of rental, and the initiative to work without always needing direction
  • Flexibility in the hours worked, hours can be long and demanding we work on a roster basis and weekends are compulsory
  • Ability to provide a safe and efficient service delivery 
  • An understanding that employment is subject to the unpredictability of the weather and the hours of work can fluctuate

  • This is a fixed-term seasonal position based at Skibiz / Snowzone @ The Alpine Centre, National Park Village. We are an Independent Shop offering Rental, Retail and Workshop Tuning to customers visiting Mt Ruapehu. We operate with a small team of around 10, so working together and willingness to assist in all areas and looking out for your co-workers is key to a great working environment and an exciting season. We are located 15 minutes’ drive from Whakapapa Ski Area. and provide all Full Time staff a Mt Ruapehu Season Pass, conditional use of equipment, and excellent buying opportunities.
  • Positions start Mid – June to Mid – October 2019 (Snow Permitting)
